Questions; if you please
Was the only clue to the demise of the Turbo was lack of power? Did it still create boost? Did it still give you the f-16 Whirr under throttle? Curious.
Maybe because I have sit and read a BUNCH of problems with the 6.0L is the reason I would swear mine has lost power from the day I brought it home. Paranoia?
Maximum4x4, Sorry. I was under the impression that you had turbo trouble in the past and I was trying to determine what lead you to the realization..a trouble code or a performance issue. This is my first diesel and I am not sure what the warning signs. (other than the check engine) Since I bought this thing used, I am seriously contemplating letting one of the local Diesel Shops do a "run-through" and check `er out.
That might be the best thing. At least maybe it will ease my mind, eh?
Welcome 350DRW to the site. Did you buy this truck used from a dealer or from a private individual. I would have a Ford dealer check it out for you. Ford has come out with an updated Turbo for these trucks as off 11-28-05. So if you have any issues with it better have it checked out while under warranty. How many miles on this truck? Another reminder always use a fuel additive in the 6.0. A cetane improver is what your lookin for. Ford makes such an additive an recommends its use.
the truck is a '05 and now has 93k. I have been toying with the idea of the extended warranty if it is still possible and yes, near 100% on letting a Ford dealer run it through.
As far as additive, I haven't put fuel in it without a dose of "Power Service" (grey) hitting the tank.
Like I said, I might as well be staring at a B-2 when I look under the hood, but I am quickly trying to make up for that....

Reason: Vapor lock
The main thing that it has a cetane improver you should be alright. Sounds like that truck is used every day you should be alright. Extended warranty might not be a bad idea but be care full on where you buy it from. A lot off these companies are here today an gone tomorrow making the warranty worthless.
I had to get a new turbo for my truck at about 11,500 miles. It took 3 days or so to finally get it in and a day to do the swap. Now i am at about 23,800 miles and my check engine light is on again. No clue on what is going on. I have also been through 2 EGR valves and sensors, 2 EBP sensors and a cleaning of the EBP tube. I feel your pain bro. Good luck.
well the saga continues.
The turbo has been replace and the oil leak fixed with a new o-ring and cap for oil filter, But now they say that i have some bad injectors, Truck was running ok just no turbo boost all the time when i brought it in.
What could have happened to it now,
Could they have done something to screw it up when they reflashed it for there recall???
this is turning into a nightmare.
i would try to have another dealership try to look at it if it is under warranty just to see what they say ya know. If you do have bad injectors i hope it is still under warranty, or you will have to pay around $250.00 to $300.00 per injector plus labor and tax........OUCH!!!!

Yes it's still under warranty as it only has 17,000 miles on it.
and yes i will use another dealer next time but for now they still have my truck, and it's day 13. But i do have a rental car that they are paying for.
The Service Rep call today and now they claim they talked to ford and the problem is a bad wiring harness not the injectors and will be fixed by thursday morning. O'well life goes on.
I'm not the warranty guru so I may not be right on it. 100,000 is the engine, internal not bolted on the outside. 3-36 for all other parts. Emission related recalls or TSB's should be covered free of charge. The check engine light can be many things. Asking for the $100 deductible before the service technician has identified the problem is not proper business procedure.
