I've never seen anyone with an older f-series with big rims.
my dad just came accross a set of 22" wheels on an 01 f150, not sure on tire size but im guessing theyre probably low-profile. he owns a used car lot and he just got this 01 f150 on trade-in and said i could have the wheels.
i know it will ride worse than it does now on 22's but how bad? and will i have any rubbing issues?
i know its hard to tell because i cant give an exact tire-size. i'll update this thread with pics once theyre on my truck.
my truck is a 95 f150 extended cab.
does anyone here have an older f-series on big rims or a picture of one
I am assuming they are the 8 bolt pattern. I found a nice set of 8 hole chrome wheels off an older ford, that will fit on a newer ford, but dont fit PROPER. After 1998 of so they changed the pattern by a fraction of an inch, as well as going to a flat style lug nut instead of rounded style.
they are the "universal fit" lug-pattern with alot of holes. Do you guys think they will work? i'm going to check tomorrow.
and i dont think it would look bad. it's different than all the lifted fords you see. plus im a teenager so i probably have different taste in what looks good
If they are the kind with more than one set of lug holes, they *may* fit. The only way is to try them.
I've always believed that it's your truck, and you should do what you want. If you like the way it looks, then do it. Some people aren't going to like it, but that's their problem.
They will fit, if you jockey them on, but, they wont fit perfectly, as i said, the bolt patters are a fraction of an inch different after a certain year. They will fit, but they wont fit right. Also, with the newer style wheels, as i said, the lug nuts are FLAT, and the old ones are ROUND. They can potentially come loose, and that is BAD. I went through the same thing, and if ya think about it, it makes sense not to do it. But hey, its your truck.

did you ever fitted thoese wheels and took some pics?
I agree that the big wheels look like crap on our trucks.
Nothing larger than a 16 or 17 inch wheel should be used on our body style trucks. The reason people think the big wheels look good on the newer trucks is because they have larger open wheel wells. The older trucks have small wheel wells.
Wheel styles from the era that the vehicle was made are the only wheels that really look right on just about any car or truck. The wheels don't have to be old they can be new, but older style. I don't know why people cant figure it out.
Thats why I am running older style wheels on my classic Mustang when it gets done. I have so many people tell me to run late model wheels on it. It just won't look right.
