My son was passing by where I work this morning when his check engine light came on. I had him leave his truck and take mine while he went on to his classes and am going to run out at lunch to borrow a code sniffer at the auto parts store. Is there anywhere I can find a comprehensive listing of codes for this vehicle so I will know what they mean when I read them, instead of having to get the codes and come back to work to search for them? It would be nice, if I find out it is a part I need to replace, to be able to get it while I am at the store!
A quick once over did not give any hints. Engine temp, coolant level, oil pressure, performance, idle, etc. all seem normal.
Approx 60,000 miles on truck, we have had it since new.
Thanks for the quick reply. Had forgotten about loose gas caps. Will check that. Is the MAF the air flow sensor downstream from the air cleaner assembly? If I need to, how do you clean it? Never needed to before.
Thanks all. Checked gas cap before I drove to Murrays Auto parts. Seemed tight, but???? Code P0455, Gross evaporative emissions leak. Sounds like gas cap is the primary culprit to me. Cleared the code. Did not come back on on the way back to work. We'll give it a day or two now and see...
