6.9 smoking
my 87 1 ton with 6.9 got some issues early this year
It smoked realy bad and had lots of blowby
I pulled the motor to hopefully find the problem It turns out there was two split pistons
one of them fell into two peices when it came out
It was split right through the pin boss I guess the rings were holding it to gether.
I guess that's what a half million Km will do
It's all back to gether now and running but sometimes when I start it it sounds like the starter is stuck but it is not mybe the ip is not advanced enough?
any thoughts

Does the starter keep turning after you let your key go?
Check / possibly replace your starter solenoids, I have heard of problems on the 6.9l with the solenoids sticking and not letting the starter dis-engage.
