Just got an alignment and it's pulling right

Hey guys,

I just bought new tires and wheels and decided I had better get an alignment to ensure maximum tread life. I bought Procomp Xterrains and they're on a 1998 F150 Extended cab 4WD.
I went to Sears and got a 4 wheel alignment done tonight. Well I left there and noticed that it had a slight pull to the right. Before my alignment I had no pull at all. They gave me a print out of all the alignment details and it reads that my front right side was like 1.2 degrees and they adjusted it to within range. That was the only wheel that was out of range but it wasn't pulling before the alignment. Just wondering if this is normal or what. I plan on calling them back tomorrow to see if they can recheck the alignment for me.

Note that I also went up in tire size from a 265/75/16 to a 285/75/16. Don't know if that matter but I think it might because on the printout they have my stock size listed as if they were going off the alignment specs for that size tire. Don't know maybe somebody can shed some light on that for me.

Thanks guys,

Tim

Forgot to mention that I checked the air pressure in all tires, they are holding fine at 32lbs which is what they were Friday when I installed them on the truck.

Take both front tires and swop left to right, if it pulls opposite you have a defective tire. Tires spin true and balanced? Don't leave out the rears in this puzzle.

Do the tire check as stated above. Make sure that they are all balanced and running good. It may be that you got a rim out of round or a tire that wasn't put on the rim right. Also, the machine that they used doesn't allow for different sized tires. There is just one set of specs for that year and make/model of vehicle. The thinking here is that if you got bigger tires you altered the suspension so that the geometry is the same as a stock one, just higher off the ground. If you can, put up all the numbers off the print off.

Pro comp xterrains are a directional tire so putting the lefts on the right side wouldnt be smart to do

For how many feet he is doing to a road test I don't think his world will come to an end and the tires explode from the factories secret unidirection rotation prevention device. Only drive east to west never north to south or your transmission will fail.

i might be completely wrong but if the alignment didnt compensate for road crown it could pull to the right slightly

Update

Sorry for the long wait for an update, my laptop went down and had to be sent off for repairs.

I took the truck back to Sears and they realigned the truck and had to install a caster camber kit on the passenger side. Drives great now. Also got 2 free oil changes and the caster camber kit for free too. Had to pay for labor though but it was only $50.

I still have yet to take pics of the truck or go mudding. We've been really busy trying to sell our house. Big headache!

Thanks for the replies,

Tim

Good to hear your truck alignment is corrected properly, to bad the brain child from NC couldn't shed some light but "retard" then look what your dealing with. Many other FTE members with brains will gladly help you in the future.

BTW, I helped a friend get a salvaged 2002 Vette running that had unidirectional tires, installed what was available in used tires and wheels without regard to tire rotation without any tire problems, not racing at Lime Rock.
