Broken Windshield............

Well today I got a nice 1.5 inch bullseye in my windshield from a rock throwen by another vehicle. Where can I get a new one with the "Superduty" writing on top? Do the normal glass shops have this or do I need to go to ford? I can feel my back pocket hurting already!

get the windsheild from the local glass shop and check out the local vinyl shops for the decal you will find this a cheaper route as the glass from ford isnt cheap

is the bullseye spreading ???? might just be cheaper to get it fixxed

The Bullseye is huge. Glass guy said it can not be fixed if over the size of a Quarter. Anyone know if I can force the other driver to pay for it as the rock flew out of his tire? Police did not want to file a report.

Not in Georgia. It is considered a road hazzard.

It is also considered a road hazard here in Arizona. If you are anywhere where there are any dirt roads, they will no doubt have the same sort of laws.

If you're in a place where a lot of windshield breakage occurs, you might do well to take out a glass policy. We've got them on all our trucks, and it is quite a bit cheaper than shelling out for those windshields all the time. Out here, I'll lose one on one of the trucks every other year or so.

I know other folks can get that "Super Duty" tint thing. Safelite did my replacement right in the barn, as a matter of a fact. It looks just like the original.

Thumbs up

Yes, the glass shops have the Super Duty glass....there are a couple options for that glass, the one with the Super Duty and the third visor frit, one with a shade, and just a clear glass, you can even get the one with the Harley logo.
Be sure you choose a reputable glass shop, a lot of fly by night people out there doing glass work using cheap urathanes and glass. I suggest a Fas-Break Glass shop since you are the Arizona area. Several of them around the Tempe and Phonix area check them out at fas-break.com or go the safewindshields.com web site and see who is registered on the Auto Glass Replacement Safety Standards Council. Glass replacement is no longer an everyday minor fix.
The crash management system of the truck includes the proper replacement of the windshield.

Just had mine replaced about 3 weeks ago.The Superduty at the top is another 100.00 but my insurance still covered it no problem. If you have full coverage insurance it should cover glass breakage. The bill was 395.00.

A rock flew off a Gravel Truck and busted my bro's Chevy's Windshield....we got a plate and truck # and got a report. The company payed for it once the Police called them about the Report. Were you able to catch the other driver whose tire did this ? I would've ran them off the road personally....

Some insurance companies also have coverage for "ACT OF GOD" incidents. Like when a deer hit my brothers truck and another time when a tree fell down over the highway in a storm and he hit it w/ his truck, he didn't have to pay.

sorry to say fordman8, you got ripped off, the difference between the standard windshield and the super duty glass is only about 50.00 and most places will do either for the same price.
As far as windshield damage, it is a comprehensive damage and will not raise your insurance, as a matter of fact you can change your windshield any time you want.......the only thing you are responsible for is the deductible. I have older people who change their windshield every other year or so cause the pitting and general sand blasting causes glaring and they have a problem seeing thru the glass.
Nags list DW01522 "Super Duty" 270.95
DW01505 221.80

Nope, my full coverage insurance will not pay for it.....$500.00 Deductable. The did call the local glass shop(they use this shop all the time) and got the price down to $281.04 for a new one with "superduty" on top, and installed. It still sucks that someone caused this damage to my truck and I am left with the bill. I did get the license plate number, and called the police and asked them to fill out a report. They said there was nothing that they could do. I need to look the plate up and take my hammer on a road trip!
