A farmer down the street from me is selling his 79 F250 4x4 300 I-6 with NP-435/205 T-case. The truck has front and rear dana 60's with 3.54 gears. What do you think this truck with the engine and gearing setup will get for MPG?
IF it's stock and it's not a snow fighter it doesn't have a front D60.
It's not a light truck, but in town doing a top speed of about 50 MPH it can get anywhere between 12-18. Depends on condition of engine and driving habits.
My daily driver (77 F-150 4x4 w/same tranny & transfer case) got as high as 15 mpg when I first bought it, with 125,000 miles I think and has gotten as bad as 10-11mpg lately but its out of tune right now and needs an overhaul. You might also check in the 300 I-6 forum if you don't get enough responses here.
