Help. Cross country hauler needed

Good news, I just bought a truck in Pensacola FL. I need a good hauler to bring it to Sacramento. Does anybody have one they liked using? I seem to recall that there were a few reccomendations last year. I see one on Ebay a lot called DAS. They want $950. I guess in this time of high gas prices, that may not be too bad. Any help? Thanks, Jag

About two years ago, I had a Panel shipped from Arkansas to San Jose, CA. It cost me $700. I used A 1 Transport (530) 222-9722. They are in Redding, CA. Had no problems with them. They were my second carrier as the first one didn't come through.

I recommend them hightly.

car hauler

I was just about to go to Abilene, TX to pick up a truck, and this was my plan (before hail destroyed it). 2400 miles round trip at 10 miles per gallon (02 2500HD) conservative estimate (probably 12 mpg down, and 10 back) $2.70/gallon gas average. $280 one way u-haul car trailer (all four wheels off the ground, 5 day rental, unlimited mileage). Total cost to me $928. This would not have been worth it, except that I am driving down to Tulsa, OK for a wedding. So it was only an extra few hundred to bring it home.

I know this sounds crazy, but FedEx now has automobile shipping. One of my co-workers just had a Jeep Cherokee shipped from San Antonio, TX to Washington, DC for $800.

When I bought Gracie I looked into vehicle shipping companies. They are not gov regulated, so they can do as they please once they have you by the short hairs. Raise the price, pick it up and deliver it when and where the please, and some of the biggest were the worse. The horror stories were exactly that! Check out any very carefully! I'd seriously consider Fed Ex!

There are several car hauler that would transport on a regular car hauler call several locals and if they don't ask them who does, they will know.

Something's wrong. I did not get noticed that there were answers to my question. I just looked on the topic and it shows 8 responses. Thanks for the input guys. I have been busy shopping. I may have found a great deal on a 59. Unfortunately, pictures cannot always be trusted. So I'm flying back next week to see it in person. I don't know about the level of resto I want to go to. After I get it home, (if) I will decide if it's worth keeping or if it's more of a candidate to recieve a minor facelift and run through the HAN auction. The last internet seller tried to shaft me. Hopefully this one is honorable. Jag

Hi Fergie, sorry I wasn't clear. The Pensacola deal is still a go. The problem I alluded to was a guy in SF about two months ago. He posted pix of a nice finished 55. Unfortunately, the pix were 8 years old! So, I kept my money in my pocket and went home. Jag

Jag,

Rather than fly out to Pensacola, why not get "Charles in Pensacola" to check it out for ya. If you can't trust a cop, who can ya trust?
