51 Ford fan-I PM'd you. Fergie, I plan on taking a cashiers check directly to the seller. I have heard several stories with bad endings about wired money. So, even if the verdict was good, I would still be flying to FL. So, no offence to Charles, I guess I would need to inspect it for myself to know what problems I could handle, and what problems would be too much for my meager, limited talents. Jag

BTW, I tried A-1, but they are disconnected. I guess this is going to be harder than I thought. I tried emailing 51 Ford Fan but I got a return message like it did not complete the email. I guess I'll try Fed-Ex next. Jag

From the FedEx sight:

I got your message but they deleted your address I sent you mine. I think its a real good Idea to go there yourself and inspect it, especially after following that Fire Truck Cluster. I wish I would have bet money on that one.

Jag-
I used Passport transport to transport a 37 Ford from Kansas City to Billings, MT. Very professional and no problems. They are now part of FedEx so I would expect you would have no problems. At the time Passport was price competitive with others I checked, and less than two others. Good luck.

The salt in the air can do a lot of damage in FL, as well as the water. I have seen vehicles there that have sat in the same location for a while where the side that faced the ocean was all rusted and the other side near new even tho they were miles inland. Look for whitish salt stains where they don't belong and green corrosion on the electrical connections for signs of having been under water. give the frame a good smack with a hammer just in front of the firewall, see how much rust falls. Things to take with you: good bright flashlight, flexible refrigerator magnet (bondo detector), phillips and regular screwdriver, 6" crescent wrench, small VOM, small mirror. I'd take off the door inspection plates and the kick panels and look around inside real carefully.

OK, I'm committed. I have booked with DAS. They were recommended by the dealer and I have seen them on Ebay as a reference too. I tried Fedex, but they wanted $1950. I will just have to keep my fingers crossed that DEPENDABLE AUTO makes good on their contract. They are charging $819 for picking up at the dealer and delivering to a terminal about 14 miles from my house. I know, now about fifty people will tell me "Don't use those guys!" Jag

OK guys, I'm back from FL. What a dissapointment! The shiny paint was pealing off the door and the "excellent" interior was original and falling apart. The dealer I was conversing with was let go the day before. I feel like the biggest rube in the state. I'm swearing off internet ads unless they are much closer to Sacramento. Thanks anyway for the input. Jag
