Extra Prong

I placed a new trailer brake connector on the back of my 99a F250. One of the prongs was for some type of charging unit power? What does that do? Charge the car batteries that set on the front of a camper? THANKS

typically, it's used to keep a charge on the breakway switch battery to energize the electric brakes if/when separated from the tow vehicle.

could also be used to (trickle) charge trailer house batteries from the tow vehicle's alternator/charging circuit while under tow.

it depends on what you need to use it for. does your trailer have electric brakes? house batteries? both?

Actually, we need to know:
1- what pin connector you put back there?
2- which "extra" pin you're talking about?

If you put on a 7 pin connector, there could be 2 "extra" pins depending how your truck is wired.
