2005 F250 6.0L Auto Trans. I plan on having a remote starter installed on my truck, How will that affect the High Idle modification I plan on connecting too???
I have a remote starter, plus the high idle mod. If you leave your switch activated the truck has no choice but high idle, on a cold start-up in the winter, the cold engine strategy is over ridden.
The high idle mod is designed to elevate the engine idle to roughly 1200RPM (some reports that the idle will go up to, or creep up to, the 1400-1500 range) while running PTO driven (plows, dump trucks, etc.) or vehicle power driven accessories (think emergency response vehicles). A number of the Super Duty owning FTE members have hooked up one of their upfitter switches to one of the two wires included in the wiring harness in order to use this feature to aid in warming up their trucks.
On the other hand, the PCM is programmed to elevate idle in a couple of conditions. One is done in an effort to prevent wet stacking and aid in vehicle warm up. No modification necessary, it is part of the OEM programming.
What all is entailed in adding the high idle mod, cost skill etc?I know I didn't do a search but will do so now and still would like some up to date input.

This is the high idle mod for 2003. Each year may have a different color, in 05 up-fitter switches appeared and 2 different wires to elevate the idle(don't quote me) maybe an 05 owner will chime in.
All you need is 12v power, one switch, degree of difficulty is one beer.
I have an 04 (build date 2/10/04). Went to the site Maxium4x4 gave but all I could find was for the 05 & 06 models. Do not know what an uplifter switch is so can't answer if i have them or not. Will keep looking for info and will appreciate any help here. Will be doing some consulting jobs and will be spending a lot of time sitting on locationin the hot Louisiana summer days. A/C needed.
