it's when you run two High Pressure Oil Pump(s) in tandem for more oil flow to the injectors. with fat injectors that require more oil flow, a single stock-output pump simply isnt enough, and you'd get the p1211 code and lose tons of power you've paid for with those expensive injectors. hell, even stock injector-ed trucks get that code because of a weak HPOP.
im still running stock hpop and NO p1211 code.....hybrids
most modded would probably be brian bunting, david lott (DI), Zane@ Wide open performance and there are many more that are building engines similar to mine.
Luke, I completely forgot about your truck -- sorry buddy.
Well, the original question was who had the most modded 7.3 here, and without Bunting, Lott, or Zane as posters here, I didn't mention them. But, I'd agree that Bunting's, Lott's, and Zane's are probably some of the biggest HP 7.3's around. And, I've had the pleasure to see both Lott's and Zane's in person. Both nice pieces of work, especially Zane's. I'm looking forward to seeing Lott's truck again, but this time running down the dragstrip, this weekend at the World Ford Challenge.
I think any truck would benefit from a dual HPOP setup. It's been proven that even a stock injector truck will benefit from more oil, and once injectors go in it will help even more. Yes, you can make a lot of power without running dual HPOP (see Lott's truck as a great example), but I think you'll see more with it. Now the trans is scheduled to go into my truck, a dual HPOP setup is my next step. After that, only time will tell, but I see injectors, head studs, and a turbo upgrade as stops along my modification road.
when i had my edge i set 1211's all the time. now that ive got 530 hybrids and a jody tipton chip ive never set it the only reason for this i think it because of the chip though. i havent got my chip back yet from jody ( i sent it to his adress but put the zipcode for my dads shop back in nebraska on accident and just got it returned to me today after 2 weeks from the post office. so i gotta go send it out again tomorrow and see whats wrong with it) but i didnt run the truck very hard at all before the pcm fried. now ivwe got 4000 miles on it and run it a little harder but still no code. david lott told me i didnt need the dual hpop setup for the injectors and evidently he was right. im kinda wondering if i run dual hpop if it will give me anything more. anybody know?
I don't think David would try to steer you wrong. A dual HPOP will give you more, period. How much more? That I can't answer. You might also ask Jody about it. He can give you an unbiased opinion on the dual HPOP setup. He's got nothing to gain or lose, since he doesn't sell them.
