I'm want to buy some headers as soon as possable for my 79 Bronco with a 400, but want to know which ones I should get.
I'm kind of on a limited budget, but can spend $50 more for better quality.
All the headers above are painted, and Dynomax and Headman both make some ceramic coated headers for $260, but is it worth the money?
I have been looking into getting a set for my truck as well. Once I've saved some cash, I'm going to get a set of Headman Elites. In addition to being ceramic coated, they're made from much thicker steel in both the the flanges and tubes. I'm on a tight budget as well, but would rather spend a little extra for something that is better quality and will last longer.
I was just looking at the Headman Elite headers and they are thermal coated not ceramic coated.
I know the difference isn't much, but I just noticed that.
I was almost set on getting some ceramic coated headers, but I'm unsure right now.
Looks like the summit brand headers would work pretty good too, and for the price you can't beat them, but what do ya'll think?
The hedman elites coating is garbage. It will fall off in a year. They are OK headers, but even with the 3/8" flanges I still had problems with them sealing.
Personally I would have liked to get ceramic coated headers, but I'm on a budget as well so I got the Summit $90 headers. They are fine. They will rot eventually but for now they are fine. I only put them on because my exhaust was messed up and the studs were ruined in exhaust manifold and basically not repairable. Bad parts is you need to always retorque the header bolts.
73F100shortbed, What kind of exhaust did you run, duals?
If possible, can you get a pic of how the exhaust is set up.
I was wanting to get the same headers, but would like to know how they fit and how easy to route exhaust.
Thanks for all the help so far guys.
I have heddmans on my 250. The only problem I had was they rusted through in a few years. I tried to save money by not getting coated headers and wound up having to buy a second set down the road. If you know the company has a good high quality coating, it is definatly worth the extra money.
I never had any luck at all with the dynomax ceramic coated. If you are going for cheap headers get the cheapest you can, since you will have problems with any of them.

I hope that pic is good enough for you. I can probably get more detailed pics if you need. Let me know. It is a dual exhaust setup. 2 1/2" pipes to dual Ravin 33 series mufflers. I used Ravins because that is what we stock at the shop I work at. Exits into 2 1/4" tail pipes with chrome tips out before the tires. Want to know more? Just ask. Hope this helps.
Ok, Headman has some thermal coated,Ball and socket flange,1 3/4 in. 14 gauge tubes w/ a 3/8" flange headers,
and Dynomax has some ceramic coated,3-bolt flange, 1 3/4 in. 18 gauge tubes w/ a 5/16" flange headers for about $265 for either one,
Out of those two, which seems better?
Also, what's the difference between ball and socket, and 3-bolt flanges, and which is better. Thanks for all the help so far guys.
