I have a 1986 f-150 I am working on the electric brake wiring. Here is the problem the controller I have has a hydralic line going to it and two wires comeing out of it all is well there. Here is the question I am installing a 7 pin set up there are two wires going to the back from the controller one is hot all the time and one is not where do they need to go on the actuall plug. The plug has numbers 1 thru 7 and colors as well the colors are not any help to me as the color of the wires are white and black and will not match up so what numbers do they go on. I know it is a mater of getting it wired right because it did work until I had to change the female plug cause it got broken and dumb me did not pay attention to the way it was wired. thanks for the help.
put a test light on it. I beleive the wiring goes white-ground black-hot all the time-blue-electric brake controller. I beleive the wire going into the controller that is hot is power from the battery, and the one coming out should have voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. the other four wires are the lights for the trailer. Put a test light on the wires by the back of the truck and see what wires have voltage, and the (thick) one that has voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. If you do a search in google images for 7 pin trailer wiring, it shows what wires to connect where on the actual plug. Hope some of this helps.
The Dark Blue wire will be your brake controller output. If you have all the factory wiring, the dark blue wire should run all the way back from under your dash all the way to the bumper.
