Diesel shuts off/stalling problem

My 2002 super duty with the 7.5L turbo diesel just shut off while braking and making a turn last week, almost as if I turned the ignition off. I thought it was just a one time occurance, but it happened twice on the same day the next week. Once while turning again, and once while stopped at a light and attempting to go on the green.
It starts up and idles just fine. I took it to the dealer, and they could not get it to happen again, of course. They suspected the cam position sensor. According to them, since the engine did not throw a code, if they replaced it, Ford would just throw it back to them. They told me to bring it in the next time it happened, and they would see if they could get a trouble code this time.
It is pretty freaky driving around and wondering if it is going to shut off again while turning or pulling out into traffic. From the Haynes repair manual, it looks simple to replace. Should I just get one and replace myself? Anyone ever experience this? Could it be something else? Thanks.

Replace the cps.It normally does not throw a code when they go bad.Dont bother with the dealer, chage it yourself.Look on ebay you can get them cheap there.
Also do a search in the 99 thru 2003 forum, you will find all kinds of info there on the cps.

I'm with Blueeyes - I'd definitely vote change the CPS too! I keep a spare in the glovebox, along with the wrenches to change it out.

I think they are like $200 from the Stealership - I got my CPS on E-Bay for about $80 - they aren't hard to change out - just a dumb spot to reach in to. You can pretty much only get one hand up and in to it....
