Not that the LUk is worn out yet or anything, but with 60K miles on it and a whole bunch of newfound power I fear it won't be long.
Been looking at a couple of clutches outside the mainstream forum favorites. A couple of them caught my eye and I was curious if anyone had experience with them.
I noticed Centerforce has a 7.3 clutch listed, but it appears to be essentially the same as the LuK.
The one that's really got my attention is the ZOOM ZVT stage II. It's a paddle style ceramic button that supposedly will handle 1500 foot pounds of torque.
I don't know much about the Zoom clutches, they weren't out when I replaced mine a few months ago. I just went with a Southbend Con FE I think, and its been working well so far. Pedal effort is a lot softer than stock was.
Those look real pretty all painted up purple like that.
Please don't take my sarcasm as an insult.
It probably would be a good clutch to get if you need one.
You might find that you hate the grabby ceramic. Kind of like Go/no-go, with very little in between. Hard to deal with in a tight parking lot situation. If they've cleared up that issue it would be a superior clutch.

From what I read pretty much all the clutches designed to hold that kind of power have that tendency, despite the manufacturers claims. I suppose like most things, it would just be a matter of getting used to it.
I know LUK, SBC, et.al. all have ceramic as one of the top end options. I wonder what kind of durability those clutches have over the long haul, with daily use.

Yeah!! Kinda reminds me of a certain purple torque converter.
Most racing-derived clutches (like ceramic) are going to be pretty grabby (on/off). I remember reading awhile back about a dual-disc clutch for our trucks... I looked through all the sites I had saved and couldn't find it. That would probably be less grabby, especially if it was manufactured with a more stock-like friction material, but pedal effort would probably be higher. Black-cloud (Pure Diesel Power as they're now known) does list a Con-FE good for 550 RWHP though, says it's ferramic and organic. That one might not be too grabby...
