Most I had in mine so far was a ton of wood pellets. Need to get some rock and the man said all it would carry was a yard and a half. Don't know if that's because it'll be full or because of the weight. How much does a yard of crushed stone weigh anyway?
I am not sure on the yard of stone when I get stone I just back up and they dump it in with a payloader on the 8' bed just showing above the bed rails pyramided up it goes around 4200-4500 lbs.
Biggest load I have had was a load of quickrete thats was just a little over 5,000 lbs she was squatting that day.

Depends on the gravel...whether it has a lot of dirt with it. Also the size of the gravel.
Lately I have been hauling 1" colored gravel for the front yard. They estimate that 1.25 tons equal about 1 cubic yard. This gravel has a good amount of dirt/powder. Been hauling the 1 cubic yard...and it holds well.

The heaviest load I've had in the bed of my '03 F250 was two loads of 12" limestone rocks. One load weighed out at 3700lbs and the next 3900lbs. Those weigh alot each and I can tell you the bed could have held another half that many rocks.
Obviously I was overloaded since the Ford literature says my max weight rating is only 2790lbs but the factory installed overload leafs were just touching the rubber frame bumpers and the truck handled the weight just fine. It squatted but not bad.
I also had the bed stacked to the point of overflowing with cut firewood and logs many times. No idea how much that weighs-I guess as much as a ton depending on the wood type and how wet it is.
I had some cool pictures of the loaded rocks online but I lost my photo site. Still have them on my computer though. I need to make my photo site on this forum sometiime.
I also hauled a few loads of limestone gravel but the place loaded it for me and wouldn't put over 2500lbs on my truck. Mentioned the liability thing, but if you've ever hauled limestone chips 2500lbs of it is nothing. You can hardly cover a 12'x12' area 3 or 4 inches deep with that so I quit bothering with it. I let them deliver it with a dump truck that carries 10 tons at at time.
Too much work shoveling it out of my truck to bother with. The bigger 12" stones I was using to shore up a washed out area along my driveway so that wasn't too bad being a one-time quickie job.
biggest in my bed was the detroit diesel for the 36 footer when it was rebuilt and on the shipping skid i think about 4 k with the marine trans bolted on . on a trailer it's the 2 up toy hauler. and 2 race cars. about 9k total maybe 10k i'm not sure it's a tri axle the cars are a big block 69 caramo and a 69 chevelle big block." no not mine my buddies cars and trailer"
charlie, 2 dressed truck engine 8V71 detroits weigh 4790 on the back of my 250 4x4. that is all the weight i wanted in the bed. towing a trailer is much better. matt
Full bed of shredded mulch= No serious weight
Full bed of cord wood= No serious weight
Full bed of wet sand= Ok now she has a modest load
Three pallets 4' high with river rock= About the same as the wet sand
Three pallet of Saint Augustine Sod= Way down on the over loads!
Later I learned that each pallet is estimated at 1800+/- pounds so about 5400 in the bed I think is right at the max for my SRW F350
She did know that load was on her and asked me kindly to punch on that tow/haul mode. I did and she walked all the way from South Houston back home at an easy 75mph most of the way.... One of the few times I got to work her real hard, and she rewarded me with a smooth as silk ride, not too bad on the fuel (9.8mpg), and I was nice and rested when I arrived so the next few hours of my life could be spent on complaining about not hiring a "crew" to help me lay all that expensive (and heavy) grass...
Damned truck keeps me way too busy loading and unloading her. If I still had my micro Nissan truck I would at least have an excuse to have all the crap delivered. That way I would not have to be human fork lift twice (into the bed out of the bed)
