you will probably get more help from the ranger section of the forum.
but ive read something about cranking up the torsion bars up front and getting some taller blocks for the back. shouldnt cost too much but i dont know how reliable that would make the truck.

I'm not sure what front suspension (on the 98) you have but there are many different types of lifts. Remember, you get what you pay for. You can lift it the cheap way and you will go thru tires like toilet paper. Retaining correct alignment is a factor on the front. If you have a coil spring front end then you can buy the spring and you'll need longer shocks and a longer pitman arm. If you have torsion front like the Edge then you can crank them up or add a lift spindel. Anytime you lift the front. You need to get an alignment and I'll bet money you'll need some cams. The rear is easy, you can add blocks and use longer u-bolts, replace leaf springs, or turn the shackles around if you have off-set shackles. This will give you about 2" of lift. You can also buy a 2" lift add a leaf for about 60.00 at ORW. Give us more details about your 98. Front suspension setup etc.... Coils or torsion, I-beam or a arms? That kinda thing. You can go mild to wild but you want to do it right so you can keep your front end aligned and the truck handling right.
