power steering pump pully
Does anyone have any ideas on removing the power steering pump pully on a 91 Explorer 4.0?? I don't have the special Ford tool that is called for - I made a steel plate to use a small puller I have - bent the plate, stripped the bolt holes in it - and the pully didn't budge............

You need to get a real puller. Some auto stores will lend or rent them to you, or you can buy it for about $20. If you bust the pulley, you'll end up paying more for the new pulley, plus I think that will be a Ford dealer only part.

Went back to ther parts store - the pully is only $20 - so I cut the one ff the bad pump to get it off the bracket. Got the new one, trying to install it with the hardened bolt tool provided with the pump..... it's part way on, the bolt stripped and then broke! Not too impressed with "Quality" at this point! Pully is made by Dorman, Pump is reconditioned. Not one of my better days trying to keep this thing running %$^#&%$$$@#
