85 F350 problem

1985 F350 diesel 4x4
420 IH,1Ton

Can some one help me find a good wire diagram for the alternator, two starter relays and voltage regulator. This truck has been sitting and i replaced the two batteries. It started right up on first crank.I let it run for about a hour. Then i shut it off.Went to start it and fried a small ground wire coming off a relay. Some one before me did some funky wiring. It looked like the wire went from the relay faceing up to a ground going into the fender. There is a lot of loose wireing.Help!

There are two relays on the passsenger side behind the battery.
The one up on the fender is for the starting circuit.
The one down on the inner fender well is for the glow plug circuit.

If I am understanding you right, you are talking about the one on the inner fender well.
Two small terminals, one black ground wire closest to the fender, one purple wire closest to the engine.
Two large terminals, one has a red wire closest to the battery that is always hot, the rear terminal has two large orange and white stripe wires and one small black with pink stripe wire. The orange wires go to the glow plugs.

Does the "wait to start" light come on when you turn the key on?

The black wire is a ground that runs to the fender. Four terminals and the wires I listed above are all of them.

This link is to a picture of another relay that has some extra wiring on it as well.

Its that thin black wire that got fried. That wire ran from the glow plug relay threw the harness with a thicker black wire into a plug. Then they both went from the plug and bolted onto the inside fender. Iam going to get all the parts i need and then repost when iam ready to start. Thanks

I installed a new glowplug relay and fixed the ground problem.Glow plugs cycle on/off now.Every thing seems to be hooked up correct. When i go to crank it over i get one click from the starter relay and the starter dose not turn. When i first started the truck a week ago after it sat for 8 months the starter relay did a random click untill the battery charged up from the jumper cables. Then it started up.I think i had this problem before and it was the celinoide on the the starter.I took the starter out then tested it with a charged battery and got nothing.Iam on the right track? The best wire diagram i found so far was a drawing some one made, and your pic.I found the shop manual for this truck, but dose not tell you to much about wireing.
