How much money would anyone on this site pay for a 1969 f100 custom cab two wheel drive pickup. the truck has been repainted and had some repair panels put in the bed. from feeling in the fenders I found no rust or bondo. the interior has 2 cracks on the dash and on the arm rest, other than that it is perfect. The person says that it is the original 360 2 barrel with only 114000 miles. it has a three speed on the column shifter. The exhaust system is new not including headers. He wants 3995 for it and i was wondering if it is worth this much and if not how much is it worth. Also in the bed of the truck from the wheel wells to the front of the box and from the wheel well to the tailgate there are no lines it is just a flat piece of metal is this original?
thanks for the help
brad
I wouldn't pay that much, but in the end it is worth whatever you're willing to pay for it. For my money, a guy asking $3000 or more for a 67-72 better have a darn near pristine truck with a V8 and all the options (power steering, power brakes, air, etc.).
I think if you are patient and keep your eyes open, you'll eventually find someone asking a much more reasonable price for a good 67-72.
Well, I payed $1900 for my '72 F-100 w/ 428, headers, at, ps, pb, the body was a little rougher than I'd like, but almost no dents and then only tiny ones. But there is some rust on there that really needs to be taken care of. On the other hand, I had to put on a new carb, filter, and now it needs a starter. So, you get what you pay for. By the time I get it running the way I want, I'll have $3000 into it total most likely. But hey, it's a used truck.
Brad, sounds a little high to me especially with the need for a new dash pad (~$300-$400) and an original 360 that will most likely need rebuilding shortly. On the other hand, you can find a lesser truck and spend several thousand dollars and tons of time just to get it up to date. It's your call.
To answer your question about the bed, it should have channels.
