Question Rust

I have a 97 F250 4 door. What is the best way, if there is a way, to protect the frame and other metal components against rust? Maybe a spray coating? If there is a way how effective would it be and what is the cost? Is rust even something to worry about as long as the truck is not exposed to extreme conditions on a frequent basis? It's not visually appealing at the least.
Thanks

you can do it. they sell it in spray cans or have it professionally undercoated. it all depends on where you live. if you live on the "RUST COAST"(east) or the great lakes area you may wanna think about it.

I've always had good luck with linseed oil. If you have enuf compressor you can get a syphon/blow gun and spray it on or use a garden sprayer. Just get the bulk of dirt and grime off the underside first. Oh...and be prepared to scrub for the next month or so as the excess oil drips/runs out from everywhere
