Belt Squeel
Recently powdercoated my power steering pulley and now after trying all kinds of adjustments and belt treatments I cannot get rid of the squeel. Anyone got a solution suggestion ??????

Hmmm, don't know why powder coating would make your belt squeal if it wasn't squealing before unless somehow the powder coat made the pulley surface slicker. In my experience about the only way to stop a squealing belt is to replace it. Once they become glazed due to the heat generated by slipping you might as well throw them away. I also try to use the belts with the "teeth" or "notches" in them. They seem to grab better and no squeals.

If a brand new, properly adjusted belt - squeals, take it off and reinstall it such that it (the belt) is rotating in the opposite direction to what it was. If it still squeals, then your pulleys are very likely out of alignment with each other. You should be able to confirm that condition with a good steel straight edge.

Just my thoughts, but if it doesn't stop, I'm betting you will have to "rough up" (with sandpaper or something), the inside groove of the powdercoated pulley. I'm betting that the belt is slipping over the smooth finish. Hopefully this isn't the problem though, and it is something else as others have suggested.
