The cancel cam is cheap

The cancel cam is waht makes the connection to turn off that brake light/feed turn signal power. You only have to replace the switch(part with three screws in it) if the brass nubs are so grooved the cancel cam wires won't touch it.(be supprised how deep they will dig with the proper bending) OR if you have destroyed the rivet from smashing it.

I had to shorten/bend the wires on my new cancel cam to get a solid connection. Worked fine. I used a very small screwdriver to split the rivet over a push nut.

Kragen/Checker/Shucks sells the cam for about 8 bucks.

Here's a question tho? any idea how to re-solder the spring mounted brush for the horn?

Hello Everyone:

I also had problems with my turnsignal switch and purchased a new one. I am able to get them through and outside source (I run a couple of NAPA Stores). We get ours out of a company called SheeMar (not sure on the spelling) and they are color coded like the factory and are a very good quality. Not sure if it is legal to say that on this forum??? If anyone would like more info just e-mail me.

George

Would this work? Unhook everything to brake lights and run a hot wire to each brake light going thru the brake pedal switch. then on the dash install a toggle switch into each line. So when you step on the brakes, start flipping the toggle on the side you want to flash. or you could glue some red plastic on a flashlight, and hold it out the window and turn it on and off...

That would be one way to do it for sure, somehow I bet most guys wouldn't take that action.

You can buy new turn signal switches. They are manufactured.

I have a 67 F-250 the brake lite switch is new but this did not solve my problem. it turns out the switch was not the problem the rod going to the master cylinder was worn just so that the brake lite switch did not always make contact. I would try a jumper wire across the brake lite switch this of course wiil turn on the brake lites and then you can wiggle the turn signal switch to see if the power is interupted to the brake lites with some help from a beer drinking buddy.
