Good Evening All,
My '58 F-100 with a 292 is slowly come back to life. A total brake system rehabilitation has kept the truck stationary for a few months but that is all about to change. The brakes will be bled and tested by the end of the week.
The prospect of the truck actually moving prompted me to look more critically at the engine compartment to avoid unpleasant surprizes. What I found was very sloppy spark plug wire routing.
Does this group have suggestion for original or aftermarket spark plug wire harnesses and preferred wire routing? Sources for harnesses would also be greatly appreciated.
A universal (make your own distributor ends) for a big block Mopar with all right angle connectors on the plugs works real well. The factory routing on these engines is a real PITA but looks good when done right. The right (passenger) side goes down and through a rubber block that holds the wires away from the exhaust. The left (driver) side has a holder or two on the top of the clutch housing and a similar to the right at the back of the block. Form these, the wires fan out to the four spark plugs. There should be heat shields above the plugs to protect the end of the wires.
