I have a 2001 F-250, V10 Crew Cab Lariat, 4X4, auto, 3.73 gears. Vehicle has 90,000 miles on it. Except for the tires, new Michelin LTX 285 75 16's on the factory alloys, suspension, brakes and drivetrain are bone stock. It is not now my daily driver, so I put only around 12,000 miles a year on it, 90% of that is unloaded or lightly loaded city and hiway miles. The other 10% is towing a 2 horse bumper pull trailer, maybe 6,000 lbs loaded.
Overall, it does a good job of towing my typical load, but I'm sure that the original shocks are pretty tired by now and it seems to be a bit soft in the rear springs. Brakes are ok, but I wouldn't mind some improvement there. I do not want to break the bank, and I don't want to make it so stiffly sprung and damped that it becomes unpleasant to drive unloaded. I would appreciate any suggestions on reasonable upgrades for the springs, shocks, and brakes. Thanks
I went with Monroe Reflex shocks up front and will go with Reflexes in the backs when I change them out as well. Approx 50 ea. Power Slot brake Rotors are pretty popular as well. Springs, if you want to keep ride stick with stock springs.
Have some air bags installed. They are adjustable for empty or loaded so you will not lose your ride. I used air ride with the on board compressor so I can adjust them from the seat of my truck.
