Need help!!!
I just rebuilt my stock 2brl carb on a 70 360. My question is how to adjust the air/fuel ratio. I just need to know witch direction to turn the bleeder screws.
Next question
Is there an easy way to tell what gear ratio of my 9in rear end?
With the carb I usualy start by turning them clockwise till they bottom out (gently) then two turns counterclockwise. Then I just mess with them until the idle is the highest, then set the idle.
About the rearend: If it still has the tag on it you want to look at the first series of numbers on the bottom row of the tag BUT the first number alot of times is not very readable, assume its a 3.
If the tag happens to be missing you can put a chalk line on the tire & driveshaft and move the truck forward until the tire makes one full turn while you count the number of times the driveshaft turns. 3 turns of the shaft for 1 turn of the tire makes 3:00. Use a friend and be safe of course. As for the carb clockwise is rich and counterclockwise is lean if you have an autolite carb.
Tighten the mixture screws until they just bottom out. Don't overtighten them. Back them out 1-1/2 turns. Then start the truck. Turn each one in until the idle drops slightly. Do this to each one and slowly. When it drops, back it out about a 1/8 turn. make sure you also reset the timing and curb idle setting.. The proper way is with a vaccumn guage.
