First Question: Will a programmer mess up the electric gas meter (lie-o-meter)? Before installing my edge evolution it seemed that the meter was fairly accurate, reading around 15-18. now though it has been reading almost exactly 10mpgs above actual (25-29). Could it be the edge?
Second Question: If i have the computer programmed with the edge and my batteries are disconnected complety is it gonna rid the pcm of the edge program and revert back to stock? or is it gonna keep the edge program in the pcm?

Could it be the edge? No the lie-o-meter does that all by itself. It uses the VSS, Engine Load (LVN), CPS, and throttle sensor to calculate.

No, the ECM will not loose a burnt program. It will only loose it's learning curve. I.E. the way it has learned how YOU drive. It will reset and have to learn all over again. This is actually a good thing. You can reset the computer and drive like a granny and get better fuel mileage. The truck will learn to control all of it's sub systems and optimize mileage. THEN, you can reset it an punch it all over the place, and it will learn how to give you the most efficient way to haul a$$. This is old technology, but not for Ford.
Let me guess, you have the hottest tune installed? Yeah it makes mine look really good too. The tow tune should show you about 20mpg or so. The increased fuel pressure screws with the computer because of the throttle position sensor. Notice how it only takes a little bit of pedal to do what it used to take a whole bunch of pedal to do before?

Oh, yeah. I noticed that bigtime. I also noticed that if I pressed harder, it went better - not as much better as you would guess by the very, very sensitive throttle, but better. It seemed as though the first 1/4 throttle movement had 5 times more power than stock, and the last 1/2 of throttle movement had about 20% more than stock.
With the Edge Evolution, even with a Tymar open element intake and 5-inch exhaust, and in 80 or 100hp modes, that EGT would BANG to 1300 before I even got to the end of a freeway onramp - - and looked like it would keep climbing past there if I didn't get out of the throttle in a hurry. I also noticed the HUGE plume of thick, black smoke behind me.
All that smoke was just wasted fuel, and the EGT kept the 80 and 100hp modes rather self-limiting.
I hope your trucks respond better than mine did to the Edge.
Gents, just installed the Juice/Attitude combo in my rig this evening. Easy install, until the rains came...stretched 20mins to over an hour.
I'd been running a Dyno Sources single stage chip and wanted the gauges in a single package and the option of different settings. Still have to add a tranny gauge, even though I added a Trucool last Saturday.
With all my mod's I'd been able to reach 20-22mpg consistently and for one stretch a high of 24.1mpg with stock tires and my Dyno Sources chip. Last evening I installed 315/75/16's after having a 2" lift installed. I pulled the Dyno Source chip out whle installing the Juice/Att combo.
So, now I'm wondering what the best setting is to maximize city economy? How about hwy mpg?
Your mileage figures are interesting - did you arrive at them by watching the lie-o-meter? Or did you record mileage based on calculations of fuel used vs. distance traveled?
yes for the short time i had the Juice/Evo stacked, the lie-o-meter showed 36.4 mpg. i showed it to my mom about her "complaining" about the big truck and horrible mileage, and she hasn't "complained" since. now it reads rather accurate (about 1 high) at 16.4.
I ordered my DP chip today from Jody, and I'm going to use the Juice w/ Attitude for the guages basically.. I wasn't impressed at all with the Edge product's performance.
hey i do not think that the juice will be good for gauges. the only thing good that it monitors is the EGT temp, and the boost is not very good because it will not register more than 22. it reads the MAP sensor boost, and not the true manifold pressure. plus it does not do anything for your auto trans (if you have one) by ways of a trans temp gauge.
Strokin - thanks for your input, I didn't think about the boost readings.. Well for now it will work for EGT at least. I am waiting for Brian Thompson to call me back so I can order my VB and converter. Brian and Jody are both cool guys (as everyone apparently knows already). I will be getting a trans temp guage, and now apparently a boost guage .. I'm sure I'll sell the Juice eventually..
This stuff is addictive and more fun than all of the cars I've owned..
Mine does the same thing, the only thing I don't like about it is I have to reprogram every time I want to change the HP. I just leave mine at 60hp and it seems to have enough power and does not smoke much.
