Solving pinging problem

I would like to know if I use hotter sparkplug can be a good solution to solve a pinging problem on 1999 ranger 4.0L? I tried to use better gaz but it doesn't solve the problem. When the outside temperature is hotter the pingning problem grow up ( summer time ). In winter the problem is less important. Finally if I use hotter sparkplug can it damage the engine?

You want to use a COLDER plug if you are trying to address pinging (which is caused by excessive combustion chamber temperatures).

Three most common things done to cure this:

*Retorque lower intake manifold
*Clean MAF sensor
*Decarbon per TSB (see tech info sticky)

Ok for the cooler spark plug but what can be the consequence on the engine? p

You could also drizzle or spray a mist of H2O into the intake while idleing the engine. The water turns to steam as the engine fires, and you can remove carbon deposits that can cause pinging. Sometimes a good run up through the gears, using higher revs can blow out carbon, too.
The above fixes are old-time stuff. From an old person.

Possibly poor mileage and fouled plugs due to insufficient heat. One thing for sure, they won't solve the ping issue. BTW, in that TSB I referenced you will want to put new plugs in when you are done. All of that PM3 will disgorge gobs of carbon, much of which will land on and foul the plugs.
