Whats the best and quickest way to remove a windshield????
I'm scraping my parts truck but need to save the windshield first and need to get it out fast. Are they in with sealer like the 80's and newer trucks are is it just held in by the rubber gasket. and i don't car about reusing the gasket if that helps.
I cut the inside of the gasket near edge of the metal flange all the way around and it seems as the windshield is loose. I pressed out on the top a bit but that was it. I had visions of it poping out ont othe hood and than sliding onto the ground and smashing to pieces so I'm waiting till tonight when I will have a second set of hands.
Good call on the second set of hands, I removed a rear window in the wreckers, glass popped out and landed on the frame in pieces as the truck had no bed. Oops, moved on to another truck with some help the next day.
.....=o&o>.....
With a second set of hands we carefully pulled out the lower rubber(just pulled from driver side and t slid right out, could not do the same with the top rubber though) and the driver side rubber and the window just poped out (after of course I cut the inside rubber as close to the metal flange as possible). The 2 of us carried the window over the hood and it was safely set away from the truck.
