Question Exhaust question, help

Im doing this on a budget,
I have the factory DP and it runs to the factory 3.5 center section then a walker muffler then to a 4 inch over axle with down turn tip,

I was thinking about just straight pipping the muffler out,

How do you think this would sound since it is 4 inch over axle...dont need to buy whole system when half of it is there and later if i want i can replace DP and center section

You'll get lots of turbine whistle along with the fluttery sound of the exhaust. Not much noisier in cabin. Some EGT reduction too.

Mine you can't hear the flutter in the cab unless the windows are down and there something for the sound to bounce off of when driving.

Without the muffler and the larger pipes aft, it will sound a lot better and flow more too, to a point. Look here and you will see the major obstruction begins with that cork known as the factory DP. 3" worth of step down to an obstruction right where the engine designer never intended. Why would that flange at the turbo be that large? Just look at the difference in the DPs. Thanks again Ford.

I wish I had a pyro gauge before doing my swap because I bet that pipe makes for some extremely high EGTs in no time flat. I can't believe how fast it comes up on the gauge with my new system.

It's not that bad of a sound...when the EBPV kicks in the hissing is pretty loud. The flutter is unique is all i can say. U may have to experiment like i did to see what u like the best.

OK completed my muffler delete,
Flutter at idle is there when the engine is cold,,
Sounds crisp when the truck is warmed up and has bass tone to it, at idle
On the Road not loaded you can hear some flutter but not to bad,
When under load and the turbo boosts it sounds really nice, at one point i let off the pedel and I did hear that cut back of pressure sound comming out, I was under a bridge getting off of Off Ramp at the time,
With windows shut you cant hear the exhaust at all, just the sound of the turbo, I have removed the insulation off the intercooler pipe so I do believe most of it is comming from there,
Looking forward to getting my FleetFilter delivery thursday and have extra 4 inch pipe waitting on it...
Thanks for all the help Psnut..you were right on the mark with your reply

Im going with the fleetfilter 46637, and doing the ccv mod at some time, already have the parts made up and ready to go...
I figured that was the best bang for the buck...

Can't go wrong there...u might want to add the Springerpop mod(outer filter cover) and do u know about installing the filter minder in your filter?

Nice going on the muffler delete, Rick. Sounds sweet, doesn't it!

Yeah when the windows are up, that turbo working sound is definitely from the intercooler pipe foil being removed. I had the muffler delete first, then the intercooler foil removed, and that's when that sound came in, which I actually like best of all the sounds my truck makes.
