I didn't have any wobbling or vibration issues until I replaced my tie rods. The drivers inner was frozen solid so I guess it was holding everything in place. Once I removed it, now everytime I brake it feels like the rotors warped or the front end is going to shake off. I went to replace my rotors and noticed I could push in and out on the bottom of the wheel. When I looked underneath I could see the ball joint giving way. My local mechanic gave me a quote of $830 for all four which seems to be inline with others on the forum. I think I would rather spend the labor money on new hubs and bearings though. Has anyone written up a procedure for replacing them on the F250 and Excursions? If so I would be most interested in finding that as well.
Thanks

Racerguy's instructions are good. I used them just this past week to replace all 4 of my ball joints. Most of my difficulty was in getting the axle out of the housing. Other than that, the instructions are great. You will need good mechanical experience to be able to do this yourself. The shop that quoted $830 is probably being reasonable. It is not a quick job.
Thanks Racerguy and all others, my PC gave me some fits the last few days I wasn't able to express my appreciation.
After reviewing the procedure though I feel I could get the equipment off but getting them pressed in and the axle pressed back on seems like a difficult task without those drivers.. Anyone have ideas on creating those?

Some places, like Autozone, lets you rent the tools for "free". Or you could buy a cheap ball joint press from places like Harbor Freight. I don't recommend the cheap press for a professional tech, but will work okay for a do-it-yourselfer.
I decided against the DIY repair as I didn't have the drivers for removal, etc. The total cost was $1k. a bit steeper than the $830 quote, but also included turning my rotors. Anyway I wasn't happy but I didnt have to make the time to do it myself... I looked at the passenger wheel well yesterday and noticed fluid all around my well. I looked behind the wheel and it seems the axle is leaking. I bet they didnt change out the seal like they said either. I take it back in tomorrow for them to look it back over.
Hope everyone had a great memorial day.
BTW. All my wheel wobbling is gone. It seems like it wants to wonder though. I know my other components are up to dat as I replaced those before the joints.. Could be Abnormal tire wear from the other issues though.
