Will not start

My friend has a 1988? F 150 with 5.8 that refuses to start. He has had several people look at it and no one has been able to get it going. The compression seems to be good, It fires on all cyclinders and appears to be in time. He has had the module checked at two different parts stores and told it was good. He has replaced the cap and rotor and wires. I forgot to mention that this is a carb equipted engine and you can see fuel squirting down into the manifold.

He has given up on this truck and parked it. I know it should start, maybe not run so good, but it should start.

Thanks

If it's carbed, it's not an 88. '87 at the latest.

I'll come pick it up for free.

An engine needs fuel, air, and spark to run. When they are there, and in the right proportion, it will run. So the trick is to figure out which one you're missing.

Are you getting spark? Take a plug wire off a plug and hold it near the block while you crank. You should see a spark jump to the block.

It has carb and could be 87. I work on outboard engines and used a spark checking board on all cylcinders and all are firing, spark will jump a 3/8 inch gap while cranking, however it looks a little yellow instead of a sharp blue. I have also used a clip on timing light on each wire and it will flash on all wires which tells me it is firing.
