Got that new 427 Pond block! I saw his post in Randy's thread and called that old goat up. He said the wife was kinda pissed but hey don't they all . Wait till she finds out how much the WHOLE engine is going to cost??? .. LOL He clued me in on some dyno numbers he's been messing with and it gonna be a REAL screamer! I'm not gonna let the cat out of the bag. He can clue ya'll in. Still no DSL line for him either. Maybe he'll have the engine done before that happens?????!!!!!!!!!!
Anyway congrats Russ and that's a great start to your build.
Russ likes to keep some aspects of his project under the radar. I was fortunate enough to see some old proposal's and they were 3 times what he needs at his age.

Now that's too funny!
I'm still running the numbers through my head: 3 times never enough=never enough, never enough, never enough!
Now we divide by his age??? into his age??? multiply by the reciprocal of his age??? Hmmm, it still comes out never enough!
Mike the blocks are pretty evenly priced depending on who you get it from. Russ bought his Pond block for $3300 without final machine work. Early Genesis blocks used nodular iron maincaps and I understand the new blocks have billet caps like the Pond. One block holds a little more coolant than the other. I forget which tho...LOL. Barry R would know and I think he has used both. Casting wise they are better than the oem blocks and also 40 lbs heavier in iron.
Mike, Russ spent $3300 for the Pond iron block. It still needs final machine work before assy. So I guess who you buy from can determine the price. Both block castings are very HD and 40 lbs heavier in iron. Not to mention the larger bore sizes. One holds more coolant than the other I remember reading. Not sure which one tho. The new Genesis blocks come with billet steel maincaps like the Pond I see. The old Genesis blocks used iron caps with billet as an $300 option. I'd love to have one myself. Anyone want to buy a 63 406?

LOL, Glenn, I have had the Block 3 weeks now and have only seen it twice! BRB!!
LOL Russ if that were mine I'd keep it in the living room. It's just to purdy not to show it a bit. You can always keep it at my house. Maybe we can built it with some of my parts for now and see how it runs? Heck I'll even keep it in the cobra to run it around every now and then so it doesn't get rusty. What are friends for.....LOL.
