Jeremy, I have seen a lot of posts since this that claim the 6.0 IC is a waste of money, or not worth the minimal gains. Can you comment on this?

What I experienced, the gains were minimal. I saw no change in driving unloaded. The only difference I saw was when I was loaded or towing, and saw an EGT drop of about 100 degrees. Spoolup was the same as the stock IC.

Is it worth the money? Well, that's a little subjective. I think it depends on how much you can get one for, plus you have to consider the cost of the new IC boots that will be necessary for the install. Then there's the time to install it, and how much your time is worth is up to you. I got my IC for about $100, then another $50 or so for the boots, IIRC.

I had to do it over again knowing what I know now, I'll say I wouldndn't do it. Instead, I'd put that money toward saving for a good aftermarket IC. When I took out the 6.0 IC for the 7.3 Spearco I have now, I saw some noticeable improvements across the board. Unloaded & loaded EGT's were 150-200 degrees lower than the stock 6.0 IC (which means it's working even better when loaded when compared to the stock 7.3 IC) and turbo spool was quicker.

Some new information here about the actual install of a 6.0 IC: On some trucks, there may be clearance problems with the bottom of the IC and the lines running to the transmission cooler. The solution to this is either relocate the trans cooler to the front (first thing behind the grill) or to install a 6.0 transmission cooler (or similar). I did not have any clearance problems on my 2000 model year truck, but have found that some trucks, partucularly newer models, will have clearance issues.
