Is sulphur a good thing or bad thing in diesel fuel? What does sulphur do for/against your engine?

Sulphur is bad for the engine and the environment. It dirties up the motor and the air we breathe. Sulphur in the fuel makes it imposable to make a diesel cleaner and more efficient, so the sluphur as to go. Some people think sulphur is a lubricant in the engine, which it is not. The refining process of removing the sulphur is what lowers fuel-lubricating properties and also lowers the power (BTUs) in the fuel slightly (1%). We need the lubricants so we have to add them back to the fuel. This is done at the refinery to meet the fuel quality standards. Low sulphur diesel should be as good as what we have now. Many people use additives now as I do and I will continue to in the future.
