Vibration fix?!
Until two weeks ago I was just reading and feeling sorry for F-150 2004 owners who wrote about the vibration problems. Then it happened to me as well..
Two weeks ago an extreme vibration at any speed comes and goes- suddenly. I tried different speeds and moderate/aggressive driving -- no pattern found.
I lifted up the back of my truck, took off the wheels and rotors and found following in summary:
- left wheel was always warmer (not hot) than the right one after driving
- right axle seal is either wrongly installed by the Swiss car mech, but it leaked oil
- brake pads needed changing
- left parking brake shoes looked a bit bad -- not smoothly worn out (small holes
Repair (at least after 150miles it has worked):
- turned the rotors inside out!
- put the thing together
No vibration anymore. Sounds unbelievable...but it seemed to work.
So I think the left parking brake has been touching the inner rotor surface during driving randomly.
Just wanted to let you know.
(My 04 FX4 is, luckily, smooth as glass.)CMOS
