engine trouble...help!
'87 F150, 5.0/AOD.
For a long time I had a hot-start problem....truck ran great until hot, then refused to catch until it cooled off. I replaced the TFI module, no effect.
Then, I decided to swap the computer with one I had lying around ( '87 Cougar, also 5.0/AOD) and clean the 02 sensor......
Now, the hot-start problem is gone, but.... #8 cylinder is dead. No spark in the wire.... I checked the plug, replaced the wire, replaced the distributor cap. Still #8 wire is dead. Everything else runs great
I discussed with others who said that the computer is an unlikely culprit, since the '87 EEC-IV was/is not sophisticated enough to shut down individual cylinders (either on purpose or in error). But if its not the wire, plug, or cap, what could it be?
If I could just solve this #8 problem, all would be well
