fuel gauge stuck on empty

fuel gauge stuck on empty
No matter what tank I switch to my fuel gauge does not work. Can I touch the two wires going to the tank sending unit together to see if the gauge moves, and if it does wouldnt that mean its the sending unit? What else could I check? Oh yeah its a 75 F150

You should be able to ground the hot wire to the sending unit should send it to full.

the gauge and the wiring is good . the sending unit is on the side of the aux tank , is it just threaded in, it also has the fuel line coming out the same spot

Sounds like either the float has a hole in it or the float has fallen off of the arm.
