Does any one know where the temperature sending unit on a 390 is?
On another topic, I've got this 71 F-100 that someone put an aftermarket steering wheel on. It's not quite as small as the drive-with-handcuffs style, but it seems a bit hokey, and it blocks my view of the instrument panel.
What's the typical diameter of a steering wheel on a truck with power steering. I have another truck w/o power steering, and I just might swap those wheels, but not if the power steering equipped trucks had smaller diameter wheels on them.
The temp sending unit should be screwed into the front of the intake manifold. The original steering wheel is around 18"-20" in diameter (off the top of my head).
If anyone's got a better idea on the steering wheel size, I'd appreciate it. Believe it or not, I could have guessed that it was 18-20", but I'm trying to get an idea if it's a different size, and what size they actually are.
Dan, The temp sending unit is on the left front of the intake manifold near the dist. The wheel off the other truck will work. I use a Grant three spoke "woody" 13 1/2 inch diameter with 3 1/2 inch dish. I would not go smaller, in fact I would go larger with less dish in an after market wheel.
