first real road test

i took my truck out on a major trip for the 1st time today. yesterday i took it to town to get it inspected but no one could do it so i took it back down there this morning. after that i took about a 100 mile round trip to my friends house. the truck was flawless. never gave me any trouble the whole way and i only used a half a tank of gas. that 390 will pull any grade no matter how long with out giving it any more gas. i couldent be happier with it.

Thats great news, glad you were successful on your project and feeling good about your accomplishments. I just now got mine put back together and have yet to road test it, and I must say I am feeling giddy about it. We do the best we can rebuilding our project, but I think some of us always wonder, " Hmmm, am I sure those were the right bolts I put back on that harmonic balancer and was the vacuum line hookups really right ??? .

Congratulations man! You had better luck than I did. Last week I tookmy truck to inspection. Havn't really drove it in about 2 years. Just up and down the street a little to keep it movin. As I was leaving the inspection station I got to the top of a hill and when I tried to go I started to roll backwards. I tried to go again, but this time I put it in granny low and figured I'd roll right up the hill, but once again nothin. I had to roll backwards down the hill while trying to avoid oncoming traffic. I finally got to the bottom and got out to see what happened and saw my rear passenger side brake shoes. I thought "that aint right". as I looked a little closer I found out the thewheel bearings on my 70 came apart and the entire tire hub drum assembly walked out of the rear until it hit the inner bearings. I had to call AAA to flatbed me home. Good times.
