Traction Bars?

I am planning on getting the DR 4.5" spring hanger lift. since there is so much rear block lift, i am defanitely going to get some sort of traction/ladder bar. for those of you with lifts and ladder bars, can you tell me where you got them, who makes them, how much they were, a link to them and possibly a picture. thanks!

I had some made

Go down to you'er local off road fabrication shop (weld shop) and have some made it cost me $435.00 installed. The pivot points brackets are welded to the frame and axle tube better high end hines fitting get the kind that can be greased they wont slip around the axle housing when you need them the most take a look at race trucks they are welded on the bolt on ones can spin around the axle tube. The pre fab bolt on ones you can buy from just about any where look cool but could be alot better for the money, but if you are going to spend the cash get some custon ones made for you truck you get what you pay for you be glad you went the custom way cost about the same but is done the right way not the Mr bolt on Bob way of doing things.

Superlift, Fabtech, and ORU all make off-the-shelf traction bars. Or, like marv02 said, get a custom set built. But, truth be told, I don't believe you'll have much of a problem with axle wrap unless you've pumped that 7.3 up beyond belief. Before you decide to get a custom set made, make sure that 4.5" is as high you want to go. Traction bars are made for a specific length, going higher will cause you to need new ones. I've seen adjustable ones, but they have been known to snap at the adjustment point.

yes, this truck has huge plans. currently it's sitting at 291/579 but soon will be well over 500RWHP. so yes, ill need lots of traction bar assist. 4.5" is about all im allowed to go, as that's right on the legal lift limit. even with 33" tires. i already have a leveling kit, so its like a 6.5" front 4'' rear.. plus that's high enough for me.

Why did I even ask?!! Between work and school, I don't know how you find the time. But with 500hp at the rear wheels I would definitely look into some beefy customs or Offroad Unlimited's weld on bars. ORU's are pretty beefy and have a greasable front slip joint-->ORU's Traction Bars<---

Thumbs up fabtechmotorsports.com

I did some research and it seems that the super duty moves in an arched motion. I was told you can put the stationary mounted ones on but the way that our springs move, there would be a little bind and it would wear out the bushings faster. Fabtech has a pretty awesome traction bar that has a shackle on the frame end. That would cover the arch part of the ford movement and after that, it does it's job on preventing axle wrap or wheel hop. I plan to get some in the near future. Have to save up some cash first. They run about 700-800 bucks. Pretty costly but I think it's well worth it.Check it out I think you'll like them.

Aloha,
Kaipo

just some info on the fabtech bars i have a buddy with a 05 crewcab powerstroke 4 inches of lift and 35's he got a set bout a year ago and all the welds are busting on them for that kinda money i think the should be a lil better built and by the way this is a strictly street truck only no off road and has never hauled anything.

Tire Spin

I wish mine 5.4 had that much power that I can't get on it I have 37 tires and regeared the truck for them and it still under powered.
even when I put on my 315 on my truck for towing it still seemed under powered I must be doing something wrong.

strokin_it......

I purchased a set of Fabtech's traction bar for my '05, and was severely disappointed when I went to install them, due only to fitment issues. I don't know whether or not you have any kinds of steps installed on your truck (don't remember from your pics), but I have the AMP Research steps (electric steps, btw) and where the bracket that holds the step when extended, is folded up underneath the truck, it is in the way of the above mentioned bars. Due to the swivel shackle that is bolted on the OUTside of the framerails. I don't know if the bracketry on the old fashioned "hoop steps" would be in the way or not.
Overall, FT's bars are AWESOME, beefy to no extreme.... but w/ some research from 4WPW.com, I found that Superlift bars SHOULD fit (hopefully). In transit as I type this. They mount directly in line w/ framerails, and should not impede on any kind of step(s) at all!

P.S.~~ With that 4.5" of lift you're going w/, you MAY not have this same issue, but I thought that I'd give a heads up to this issue anyways. GL w/ the outcome.
