skinnerdom
I had to have the same thing done on my old 74 I redid about 4 years ago, its best to have a very experienced body shop do the work because it will require a great deal of welding and fabricating. What they will do is drill out the spot weld on the seam cut about 6 or so inches up the firewall (more or less depending how far up it goes) the they simply make a new patch peace out of the same gauge metal clamp it in place on the firewall, spot weld it in a few places then they will stitch weld it and grind the welds smooth on the firewall. After the grind the welds smooth it was IMPOSSIBLE to tell that it was replaced (again you will need to find a experinced body guy) but at the same time you can have some of the holes in the firewall filled for a cool smoothie firewall usally no extra charge while doing the other repair.
It wound up costing about $400, but trust me its worth it, because of the amount of work it would take to get a firewall from a diffrent truck cab would cost MUCH more .. would be cheaper to just find another cab after the labor involved.
