Well, the timer is pretty hokey. If you remove the key it will keep the truck running. Open the door and it dies immediately. If that is how it works, then I think it is coming out Monday. Anyone have similar experiences? This is for an 01 Excursion.
Pretty hoaky alright! Does it keep running if you crawl out of the window?
Sounds like a pretty worthless timer if it shuts off when you open the door.....Maybe someone has mis-wired it?

The closer it gets to shutoff temp the more succeptable it is to door openings. I raised the temp and it was ok. However, when it got close and I opened the door, it shut off. Also, when it turns the engine off by itself, the remotes don't work anymore. I am thinking this thing is a huge PITA and by Mon it will be out of the truck unless BD tells me that something is wrong.
My Diesel Turbo Lifesaver has the same remote lock problems. It has something to do with the key needing to be in the off position AND the truck actually stopped and not running for the remote locks to work.
It doesn't bother me since my driver's lock actuator doesn't work anyhow. I don't have the door opening problem.
Have you called BD. I read something on the DTL website about my problem but haven't called them yet. I hear it's a problem on some year trucks and not on others.
Does your stop the process and allow the truck to run if you put the key back in, turn it to the run position and tap the brake? I like that feature. It allows me to leave the truck running and locked while I run in somewhere for a few minutes.
There has been cases on the Excursion when the Turbo Temp Monitor is installed and activated for 15 minutes or more the remote control key fob will not lock or unlock the doors for around an hour after the vehicle shuts off. It has been determined that the security system on the Excursion has an indicator that tells it when electricity is being used and not being replaced. In order to conserve as much electricity as possible the system renders the remote inoperable.
We have a report back from a customer that he installed a jumper wire from the same ignition wire tied to the TTM and ran it to the windshield wiper circuit. The wire is black with a light green stripe (#297 on the schematics). It is also recommended to use a 30 amp inline fuse in this jumper wire and also make sure the wipers are off anytime the vehicle is shut down so that is does not create problems with the TTM. Evidently this prevents the GEM (General Electronics Module) from deactivating the remote key fob.
you wired it wrong. mine works perfectly. doors lock, it will shut off if i hit the brake (like it is suposto), opening doors is no problem. i have mine set around 250*.

Well, if I sit in the cab and wait it out, it will do what it is supposed to do. I did check the wires again and again and it is correct. Also the door locks work but the remote doesn't. IOW, if I manually lock the doors via the switch on the door, it will work. The key fob won't work while the module is active and for an hour after that.
