Time for a flush, let's do it.
In an attempt to troubleshoot, I am going to change the t-stat and flush the system. What I need to know is:
What is the proper type of coolant to run in this truck. Send me a link to another thread, or however you see fit.
The H20 pump is new as well. (2 mos.)
I have towed several times with no issue, this just started happening.
I may have gotten a botched clutch fan. If I sit at a light after it heats up, the temps will go down. They will stay down for a minute or so, then up she goes. If I stay off the throttle and glide, the temps will go down.
any thoughts?
Are you using a mechanical coolant temp gauge or the factory idiot light with a needle? It's always possible that it's an issue with the ECT sensor.
I still rely on the factory indicator, but I had coolant in the overflow boiling. I wonder if It has something to do with the shut off valve I put on the heater core. I have managed to get the AC to blow 38 degrees, but sometimes I can smell coolant. There was not a leak in the core when I suspected it earlier this year.
All thermostats aren't created equal. I have had new ones fail consecutively on the 3208's.
