Just found a 1967 F-250 4x4 that has factory buckets,(thom the vin plate was gone or i would have had it for your registry)Anyway
i took the seat brackets only, since the seats were junked and the frames were cracked, Now I am wondering if Mustang seats from 64-66 are the same??They look Just like the mustang seats of the early 60's but I know Ford has done strange things...
In the pictures I have of a 67 with buckets, they look like 67 Mustang seats. You can still get that vin for Thom from the top of the front right frame rail just ahead of the crossmember.

that's what I was read on a different forum once was that they were 66 and earlier mustang seats
I had a 69 F250 2wd camper special ranger, not a ranger xlt, and it had those some bucket seats like in the 68 picture. They were very comfy, but a little bit torn due to wear and age. I never knew if someone had added them or if they were factory. I looked under the truck and the mounting holes were not modified, looked all orginal. I tried to sell the seats when then truck got to be too rotted out to drive anymore nad not one wanted them so i just ended up tossing them. I'm sure someone on here would have liked them, but at the time i didn't know about this site.
Thanks Buckshot for confirming what the bucket seats look like in a ’67 and thanks Jeff for confirming what the buckets look like in a ’69, same as a ’68.
I still owe you a set of pics of the seats in my truck. Anyway, from what I have seen, buckets from early Broncos and Mustangs look the same as the F-series seats and I think they would work.
I would like to put these buckets in my 69 crewcab...But
I know My 69 Mustang that I have hear in the garage has headrests
where as the truck in 67 that i got the brackets from did not.
So to be correct for 69 would i use 68 mustang seats wihtout
headrests???I also see in the pic above that the 70's still had
no headrests...So i assume ford kept some 67/68 headrest free
seats around for the trucks???
Hey Joe, I just now noticed that the '69 brochure has the exact same pic of the yellow buckets as in the '70 and '71 brochures. Now if you can believe the recycled pics then I would say yes, they used the low-back seats with no headrests.
So i would assume then the 67 trucks used 65/66 mustang seats and the
68,69,70 etc used the 67/68 mustang seats??? Just trying to confirm
all of this before the All Ford Carilsle Show this weekend
so I know what to be looking for.
Joe, I’m no seat expert but from what I can tell, the ’67 truck used the ’67 Mustang buckets and the ’68 – ’71 trucks used ’68 Mustang buckets. I say this because the pleats run up and down vertically on the ’68 buckets and horizontally on the ’67 buckets.
From the 65-72 Ford Catalog on Fisch Book:
It shows them to be different from Mustang/Cougar to the Bronco and Full-size cars like a T-bird or Fairlane.
