Everybody is assuming that everybody is talking about the same port at the same time. Why don't we make sure of which port is which. Disconnect the vacuum hoses and start the engine. place your finger over the port. If there is vacuum present while the truck is idleing, that is where you want your transmission to hook up. If there is no vacuum present at idle, rev the engine. If you feel vacuum when the engine revs, that is where you want your vac. adv. to hook up. If you don't feel any vacuum from the port at idle or when you rev the engine, the port is clogged.
i understand, the problem is there is only ONE port that I can find
it has vacuum at idle so it goes to the tranny no problem. the guy who installed the new motor had the dist teed off to this as there is no other. so I have disconnected it for now.
Ron, maybe you have a 2150 carb. It has a ported vacuum fitting just to the right of the driver’s side idle mixture screw down by the base on the driver’s side. Now I feel like I’m shooting in the dark.
I just went and looked I don't see one there eather, I guess she goes to the ford dealer tonight after work and see what they can do.
Thanks to all and a big thanks to Barry for all his help.
