I have an oil leak coming from the tube on the passenger side of the intercooler. This is the tube for the turbo that there is a oil drip coming from. Any ideas what might cause this, maybe oil level to high?
Are you talking about the CAC tube where it attaches to the intercooler? If so, it's probably oil that has collected in the tube from crankcase ventilation that gets into the intake system. Mine puts out a drip every so often that I wipe up. Annoying but apparently normal.
While changing the trans filter I noticed an oil spot on the frame. I looked up and there was a hanging oil drop on the blue tube that connects to the intercooler. So I guess it is just a slow drip. If this is normal that is hard to get used to. Leaks are not normal to me in anything but out of my control I guess. This is my first diesel.
I hear you meangreen. I'm a bit of a clean freak and the oil drips get under my skin. But then again, I guess the frame rail right under the CAC tube/cooler joint won't ever rust! Anyway, check out the Tech Folder section. There's an article in there about rerouting the crankcase ventilation to prevent this oil residue from getting into the intake system. That should resolve the leak for you.
