New Help Asap

i was changing my fuel filters and now the truck doesnt wanna start. it sounds like its not firing. I did leave the filter under the truck off for awhile, idk mybe air got into the lines to the extreme or what. But the fuel filter under the hood, the
"compartment" if u will is empty and ive tried starting it empty and ive tried turning the key lettin it fill up which it isnt really doing. it fills up alittle. and ive tried pouring diesel into it so it would be full on start and nothing. It did turn over for 20seconds MAYBE and then it got rough and stalled. ive been workin on it for a few hours now and nothing. any ideas am i doing something wrong?

I had an issue like that once after changing a fuel pump. It would not fill the fuel bowl. What I ended up doing was remove the under hood filter and keep cycling the key untill fuel came out. But, I've only ever had that happen once... I imagine it was just air, but afterwards it was just fine. This is assuming that you've verified the pump is running.

The pump is working. The bowl will fill up with fuel but it wont fill up as full as it should. it will fill up just a little bit. i tried turning the key but not all the way then and letting the fuel pump do its thing etc but still nothing. Ive removed the filter under the hood and let it fill up and put it back in and try and nothing. so idk what the heck is going on

Did you change the filter on the rail too? Maybe you've got some kind of inlet restriction.

I think I remember reading somewhere that if you don't get the cap on tight or if the o-ring gets pinched, then the fuel pump does not function well. This would be for the cap on the rail mounted filter. It would make sense if the fuel pump pulls the fuel from the tank and there is an air inlet, all it would do is suck air.

Just a thought, hope you figure it out soon.

You'd better remove it and start over...sounds like that "o" ring didn't get seated in the right place.

Give it a good charge and try again. The IC will do crazy things if the voltage is too low.

ive had it charging for awhile now. over 1hour and every 10-15minutes ill go try to start it. It cranks real good but not firing at all. and the filter bowl under the hood is right where it should be. the level is fine. its just not sparking. just so u guys know the truck was fine before i did the filters. its not like something was wrong so i decided to try them.

This always happens when the battery is disconnected or is dead then gets connected or charged back up.

alright thanks man. I got the truck started. let it run for 5minutes went for a drive and it stalled out about 5miles away from my house. i got it started by pumpin the gas pedal with the key turned. i got it home fine and im lettin it idle for awhile. 30minutes or more. i pulled 2 codes. cylinder 4 and 5 balance/fault. i think thats because of tryin to crank it and gettin it half on and stallin etc. idk its been a long night. at least shes running

well that is good to hear. I have heard that sometimes they are hard to start and if you turn the key on and let it cycle then turn it off and then back on a few times that will get the pump going and get fuel back through the filters to where it needs to be.

Just be certain that you've solved your fuel supply problem. A lack of fuel will do some severe damage to your fuel injectors after time.
