Hello gang,I did a order sheet on a 2007 V10 tonight. As I was waiting for the salesman to do the 2007 pricing (just received today),he says hey wanna take the superduty for a ride? I said sure,It was a 2006 4x4 superduty w/8 ft.box. 5.4 liter engine,3:73 rears.I took it easy at first, but then got on it.I really wasn't impressed with the 5.4 at all.It seemed like too much truck for it I'm glad I'm ordering a V10 with 4:30 rears,I hope it has the get up and go I'm looking for!If I get my price where I want,& order tomarrow,I may have it by june 22,so they say.
I went from an 04 5.4 F250 to an 06 V10 F250 and there is a huge difference in response, get up and go, and over all performance. MPG is the same when not messing with the other 2 of the big 3.
I have yet to try the tow/haul (race) button because it smokes the tires/other trucks with out it.
I have 4.10s so yours will really blister the tires.
The 04 I had had 40 less horse power then the 5.4 you drove.
It was a supercab krewat.I really think the truck was weighed down in a way.It didn't have a quick holeshot.I wasn't expecting a mustang gt type of feeling,but after owning a 302 & a 4.2 f150's, I really wanted more.
Real hard to tell on new truck in the lot with so few miles on it. Both the 5.4 and 6.8 take some time to break in and get their real applied torque and HP to the rear wheels... but all that aside the v10 is going to suit you better from an acceleration point of view... the 5.4L should be restricted to F250 regular cab trucks in my opinion and at least locked out for any DRW or Crew cab versions
The 5.4L is a respectable motor but Ford increased the tow/haul capacities well beyond the levels of performance the smallish V8 can deliver
I am up to about 325 miles on mine now, and I can definitely tell a huge difference from new (14 miles in my case). Of course, I am also more and more willing to let it rev. I saw 4400 today! My wife says I roooooollllll thru the two stop signs on my way to work, rather than stopping. I actually just love to roll into that throttle.
BTW, I flat love cranking this truck up with the driver's door open. That son-of-a-gun SNARLS! Reminds me a lot of my buddy's '03 Lightning.
I also have several rolling, but pretty steep hills that my '02 Explorer downshifts to make it up, but this truck doesn't even think about downshifting. Cruise set at 55mph and cruising!
going back on monday Blue. We sat down & did the pricing sheet through Ford. The salesman said by the end of june, but we'll see.Still no ford rebates as I know for sure.I'll be in touch,Al.
i felt the same way. wife test drove a 5.4 then when she drove the v10 after we got it. she was like now i understand that other motor is a dog in that truck. good luck with you getting a new v10 s/d man
